Grey Matters
It's been quite some time since i've been to a hip hop show where i was moved by the performance and felt completely relative during one. Last night's GreyMatter show for their apparently long awaited LP was absolutely captivating. The members, emcee illustrate and producer Tempermental, showed a stage ownership and a level of conciousness that i'd been missing since moving to orlando. If you're out, see a 12inch, CD or their names on the bill....do it. You will not regret it. If you live in orlando, they're local cats...no excuse.

Pretty much how it be!
I think that anytime a male artist decides to depict a compromised female form, he's faced with two critical considerations. One being, is he doing this to satisfy his personal lustful intentions and desires, and two, is it a misogynistic portrayal. To address the former, when i shot this model, i was trying really hard to be professional, because after all, this is my profession and i wanted to keep business and pleasure separate, but why do they have to exist separately in art...attraction is a basic human instinct and is only natural to be drawn to a subject or subject matter. Perhaps the subject your drawn to is a particular landscape that you visited and it was so lovely you wanted to capture it in your own way. It's the same attraction that draws you to a pair of shoes that you feel obligated to buy because you were moved by them. I'm interested in doing more shots like this as a series so any models down for the cause need apply. brand.nu.dsign@gmail.com

Dont you wanna see the boy, come and take a polaroid, polaroid camera Flash
So photography isn't necessarily my medium of choice but i really enjoy shooting a lot.
My man will (one of Jacksonville's finest emcees) ask me to do a shoot with him, and i eagerly indulged his request. Just-Will is a very intellectual and creative mind and has always been open to my ideas and concepts about art and life. We often use each other for idea spring boards. I didn't really have a "set" in mind as far as the shoot was concerned. I just knew it had to be more about will, his personality and the messages he could convey with his facial expressions.

Production
Decided to post a few paintings from yester-year as a segway into the new paintings.

Bling. 18x24. Acrylic on Canvas. 2007. $100
Bling was inspired by the idea that we should be more mindful of what we do. The connotations of imagery and portrayal say way more than we could say in defending such actions. Basically, a chain is a chain is a chain.

Black President. 16x20. Acrylic on Canvas. 2007. SOLD

This was completed a while before Shepherd Fairey's Obama Print which i tend to point out, not to say i was the first to do it, mainly so i can say that this was not inspired by that. President Clinton was socially accepted by African Americans as being Black, as far as his actions were concerned, then came Obama and Clinton being our First Black President, wasn't so official anymore.

Simply Clean x Brandnu
About a week ago, a close friend of mine asked me to design a shirt for his blossoming Car Club, Simply Clean. I asked him what kind of idea he had in mind, given that the screen printing was limited to two colors or less and my current concentration of art didn't really correlate. After some brainstorming kitchen table style with another mutual friend, we came up with something. I thought about keeping it simple, after all the name is Simply Clean. In the same vein, the members modify their cars but do so in a manner thats simple and sexy. Since each car is customized to compliment the personality of the driver, it was only fitting to design a shirt thats customizable to compliment the personality of the wearer. Heres a sneak peek.

Simply Nu...pretty much Trial and Error with what paint to use...didnt turn out too bad...pssshh it is my face after all!
pick one up...
